Happy New Year (almost...)

Greetings from lockdown central, aka The Strip.

Tonight is going to be one huge, beautiful mess! There are more people here than I've ever seen before. Billions and billions of people, all elbowing each other in a vain effort to get to the only $25 blackjack table in the whole casino or waiting in line for hours for the right to pay to get into some of the nightclubs around here.

Some of the New Year's Eve special concerts and events are absolutely insane!

Do I really want to pay $300 to get into Tao to see Mariah Carey? Um. No.

How about The Backstreet Boys at the Hard Rock for $200? Riiiight.

Ah, here we go, Pamela Anderson at Pure at Caesar's Palace for $250! Ha!

(Although The Bangles and Doobie Brothers are playing downtown for $60...that might be worth it, but I'd miss the fireworks on the strip...)

Either way, they are taking security very seriously here. It seems like they need to frisk you to just to go to the bathroom (or that could have been just some nasty pervert in a police costume...ew).

Anyway, it should be a grand time tonight, if I don't get trampled by the estimated 300,000 people that are going to be jammed onto the Strip tonight.

Who could be better to ring in the new year than U2?

No one!

I hope you all have a safe and happy new year!

Great Post,
I know it's from a while ago, but I couldn't agree more regarding your choice on who to bring in the New Year. U2 have got a new album in the works (poss. title: No Line on the Horizon) so keep looking out for tour dates etc.
